Birmingham Central Mosque - New 14m diameter GRP dome

Design & Display Structures were awarded the contract by Shaylor Special Projects to design, manufacture and install a new dome to the mosque located in Belgrave Middleway, Highgate, Birmingham. The Architect is Michael Edwards Associates (m.e.a.) of Edgbaston.

In front of an eager audience kept back at a safe distance D&D craned the complete 14m diameter dome (preassembled in the car park complete with steelwork) to its intended location on the roof and within a short space of time secured it in position.

Prior to the lift, on site laminating works over the newly formed ply base provides additional weathering at the junctions between the old and new domes.
