Contract Award - Double Curved Internal GRP / Glass Feature Enclosure
Mansell Construction Services (Slough)
Design & Display Structures have been appointed by Mansell Slough to design, manufacture and install a feature GRP enclosure on phase 3 of Gurdwara Dome Guru Nanak VA Sikh School in Beaconsfield Road, Hayes, Middlesex.
The enclosure concept is by architects Integrated Design Consultants (IDC) and D&D have worked alongside other specialist trades over the last few months to assist the process of reaching a final agreed buildable scheme.
The double curved GRP element covers over the glass enclosure below and is suspended from the primary ceiling structure above in order to avoid placing any weight or loading on the curved glass panels below. It will take considerable co-ordination of these works on site.
The GRP architectural cladding system will then be gold leafed to provide a spectacular effect.
Installation is due in Spring 2011. This £15M expansion from 4FE to 6 FE includes substantial internal alterations, the construction of a new 2 storey Learning Resources Centre and a new 3 storey teaching block. As the school remains in operation there has been a keen focus on fast track build-ability to minimise day to day disruption to the occupants.
