Feature capitals to Platform 10 Liverpool Street Station refurbishment scheme

Market leading bespoke GRP specialist Design & Display Structures have been contracted by Spence to carry out refurbishment works to columns at Liverpool Street Station.

Stage one is to take down during night work shifts an existing heavy metal column capital and prepare this for use as a pattern before taking off a multipart GRP mould enabling ongoing reproduction capitals to be manufactured.

Stage two is to return to site with the new capitals and install them, along with secondary frameworks and brackets, to a number of existing columns along the parade.

The D&D team will be working from fibre glass mobile towers to comply with railway contractor working requirements.

Manufactured in a neutral cream RAL colour the capitals will then undergo multi colour paint decoration to create an appearance appropriate to its heritage.
