YO! Sushi at Whiteley Village Fareham

McLaren Construction / Corstophine & Wright

Design & Display Structures have completed a sweeping loop of GRP fascia soffit under a contract to McLaren Construction to build an 1,800 sq ft custom built standalone pod at the Whiteley retail and leisure destination in Hampshire. Corstorphine & Wright are the Architects on what is one of the largest new retail developments in the country.

Profiling is complicated - on plan the GRP follows an eliptical path whilst its level rises and falls as it wraps around the new building. The project therefore called for very careful coordination of the double curving GRP design with the facetted glazing below (by Architectural Aluminium Ltd), steelwork supports (by Hi Tec Welding) and wave like timber roof above.

After careful setting out of the tooling each modular length was manufactured in fibreglass at D&D’s London GRP factory and fully finished off site in a RAL colour.

Working from mobile access within a very tight space as so often is required on retail sites in order that shoppers were not too inconvenienced the D&D installation team worked effectively to erect the GRP profiles in the quickest time possible. All this despite the heavy rain showers.
